How to Fix Like a Pro

Proofreading is an essential and valuable skills that can be learned. The first thing is to understand that it is always easier to read someone else's work to fix. The human brain fills in the gaps and see what they want to see, so it is difficult to read their work to correct them.

The following tips will help you review your skills. You must add these instructions is to learn the will and patience when proofreading.

1. Suppose we have made mistakes. If you know you tend to letters in certain words, ensure their implementation. Spell Checker are obviously misspelled words, but if you want to type "from" and you type check "form" spell will not help. Need to catch errors.

2. Read one word at a time. Let your eyes time to fixate on every word.

3. Read aloud. This will slow down. It becomes even more senses are involved. Your brain can see the word, and listening to the Word. You can not see thatShe wrote a word written twice (but you would feel if you read every word). Did you catch the double-word typo in last sentence?

4. Read every word that is on the side, and not what you think is there. (That is, reading a test where most people make mistakes so familiar with.)

5. Proofreading with someone else, if possible.

6. Proofreading more than once.

7. It makes sense to put a line under the direction of the original text and line-side use, especially whenProofreading numbers or metes and bounds legal descriptions. I find envelopes make good leaders for this work.

We are our own worst enemies when it comes to typing errors. (I remember the movements of our body) Our kinesthetic memory to bring the same mistakes over and over again by typing, because our fingers are pointed in a model in motion.

Since our brains are incredibly fast computer, a split second of inattention can lead us to lose quite a line whenTap. It helps to watch what you type, but sometimes when copying text in a subject that you have no knowledge or interest in the mind wanders. In these cases, you must pay special attention when you fix.

Our brain only pay attention to the shells of words, letters, and the surname. Therefore, when the first and last letters are in place, but the letters mixed up inside, you can still read the misspelled words with ease. Your eyes send themisspelled words to your brain, your brain decodes without your knowledge they were written wrong.

It is interesting to note that the eyes on the actual print only three or four times in a row correct. This is not to read every word. The correct words your eyes can not see through your peripheral vision to read. The average reader takes in only about six letters for "fixing". So just read it again, you have to slow down and your view depends on every word, and be careful so that theBrain does not take control and see what they want to see.

Knowing exactly how the brain works will help you be a better auditor. Delay, attention to every word, and if there are typos should be to help you find your mistakes.
